San Miguel Beermen forward Arwind Santos was glad they drew first blood in their Semifinals series with the Phoenix Fuel Masters after a 100-88 Game One victory on Saturday but the lanky big man remained wary of the Fuel Masters especially that they are capable of bouncing back.
"Mahaba yung series hindi natin pwedeng isipin na kayang kaya naming idiretso yung series na apat na panalo pero ganun pa rin yung respeto namin sa kanila mataas pa rin," said Santos ahead of the Game Two on Monday.
Santos doesn't want his team to be complacent as he is aware of Phoenix's capabilities especially they have the fire power with Calvin Abueva and Matthew Wright at the forefront to match SMB.
"Pinatikim lang kami," Santos stressed.
"Wag kaming kukurap sa kanila kasi hindi namin masabi kasi yung team nila talagang killer din kapag nag relax ka, pwede ka niyang talunin basta basta," the former FEU standout said.
The 6'4" forward was happy that they got the first win but Santos emphasized that his team shouldn't be satisfied with the win. He also stressed out how important for them to win the Game Two as this give his team some sort of advantage in the Best-of-seven series.
"Ang maganda rito, nanalo kami and hindi kami dapat masatisfy duon," Santos said
"Itong sunod na laro, importante rin sa amin kasi kung makukuha namin ito medyo nakauna na kami ng onti, nauna na kami sa arangkada."
