The San Miguel Alab Pilipinas tries to keep its title retention hopes alive as they take on the Hong Kong Eastern tonight in Game 2 of their Quarterfinals series in the ASEAN Basketball League Season 9 at the Southorn Stadium in Wan Chai, Hong Kong.
The game is set to start at 8 p.m.
The Eastern recovered from a 15-point deficit and relied on their outside sniping and bench production to take a 90-88 victory in Game 1 of the series.
Hong Kong shot 13-of-32 (40%) from long range while Alab made just seven of their 22 (31%) three-pointers. The Eastern also had 17 points off the bench while Alab had just 10.
O'Darien Bassett tallied 29 points, four rebounds, and seven assists to lead the Eastern in Game 1 while Marcus Elliott registered 22 points, eight boards, and five dimes. Michael Holyfield also chipped in 14 points and 16 boards while Tsz Lai Lau and Adam Xu scored nine and eight points, respectively, off the bench.
Renaldo Balkman dominated for the team from the Philippines in Game 1 with 30 points, 13 rebounds, and seven assists while PJ Ramos had 17 points. Caelan Tiongson and Ray Parks contributed 13 and 10 points, respectively.
Balkman and Ramos look to take charge once again to ensure that Alab will play one more Quarterfinal game at home. Last year, Alab defeated Hong Kong in two-games in the Semifinals. Bassett, Elliott, and Holyfield now try to return the favor for the defending champions.
