Gaco stars in 3x3 Elite League Manila

Former Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) standout Jerwin Gaco headlined for the Azi and Tets Travel Tours squad as they deafeated Yulz TMT, 21-19, to bag the 3x3 Elite League Manila 2019 title at the Market! Market! Mall in Taguig City over the weekend.
Gaco, who last played for Nueva Ecija in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL), sank two free throws in crunch time to ensure the championship win for his side together with the $3,000 top prize.
The Azi and Tets Travel Tours team, led by Gaco and bannered by JR Cawaling, Joel Brokenbrough, and tournament Most Valuable Player (MVP) Dan Reducto, also won an all-expenses paid trip to Beijing where they will be representing the Philippines in the SINA 3x3 Elite League Manila 2019 against the top 3x3 teams in the world.
Meanwhile, Adrian Celada, Ken Acibar, Jeson Delfinado, and Levi Dela Cruz of Yulz TMT settled for second place together with the $2,000 pot.
Tournament organizers Mediapro Asia and SINA Sports expressed their delight with the success of the event, which was attended by a total of 60 competitive teams.
"This year, we've seen a lot more quality teams and we are happy with that," said Mediapro director for marketing and sponsorship sales Salauddin Sulaiman Sinnakandu.
"This is something that we want to continue. We want to expand it. I think the local organizers made such a great job in bringing in quality teams," he added.
"This is a truly great experience for the local participants. They are really competitive and they are having a chance to compete with the best players in the world this year," said SINA Sports manager of international business and strategic partnerships Roger Zhang.
