FIBA postpones 3x3 Olympic Qualifying Tournaments to 2021

FIBA decided to move the two 3x3 Olympic Qualifying Tournament to 2021 following the postponement of 2020 staging of the Tokyo Olympics due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Gilas Pilipinas 3x3 squad bannered by the country's top two ranked 3x3 players, Joshua Munzon and Alvin Pasaol and the Gilas 3x3 Southeast Asian Games gold medalists CJ Perez and Mo Tautuaa, were supposed to join the tournament originally scheduled last March 18 -22 in Bengalore, India.
Gilas was grouped in Pool C where they were supposed to play Slovenia, France Qatar and Dominican Republic. The national team hopes to finish in the top 3 of the tournament to book a ticket to the Olympics.
Aside from the OQTs, FIBA also cancelled four FIBA 3x3 World Tour events in Prague, Lausanne, Los Angeles and Nanjing. FIBA 3x3 U23 Nations League, FIBA 3x3 U17 Zone Cups and its Qualifiers, and Qualifiers to the various Zone Cups were also cancelled.
Meanwhile, the Chooks-to-go Manila Masters will be pushing through as scheduled on August 15 and 16 at SM Megamall.
FIBA reiterates its commitment to bring the 3x3 back in action and that they are continuously working on the adjustments of the schedules of its tournaments.
