The Philippine Basketball Association is looking at the possibility of allowing teams to conduct work outs in small groups.
Commissioner Willie Marcial said the league is pondering at such possibility since under the Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine Guidelines, small group gathering is already allowed.
However, the league have yet to set guidelines for that although Marcial reiterated that players' safety remained in utmost importance.
"Unti-unting balik sa normal ang plano ng gobyerno, at yun din naman ang tinitignan ng PBA. First is the set of guidelines for the return to practice. Under the general community quarantine, allowed na ang gathering ng small group, so baka naman pwede na rin mag-work out ang team ng four or five players per session," Marcial told PBA.ph.
The PBA might also enforce the teams to disenfect their practice venues and facilities before allowing work outs.
"Bago gamitin ng teams natin ang mga practice venues nila, we have to make sure those places are disinfected, at lahat ng equipment na hahawakan ng mga players natin ay disinfected din," said Marcial.
Requiring the teams to have their players undergo CoVID-19 tesiting is also a possibility.
"It's to make sure that we have a clean bubble, and we have to protect that bubble," he added.
The PBA has set August to decide on the fate of the league's 45th year. The PBA board is in a wait and see situation and weighing between yhe possibilities of have a one conference season or have the season entirely cancelled.
"If the situation improves, leading to the lifting of restrictions by August, then we can resume play in September."
