Former San Miguel Beer import Chris McCullough teased the Gilas Pilipinas fans once again after he shared fan-arts of him wearing the national team jerseys.
McCullough posted a fan-art showing him wearing a white jersey with 'Pilipinas' written on it. In the background, all of his jerseys in the previous teams he had played for can also be seen.
The other photo showed McCullough wearing the Gilas Pilipinas jersey, the one that the national squad wore during the 2019 World Cup.
McCullough had many times expressed his interest to become the national team's naturalized player. The 25 year-old American guided the Beermen to a championship in the Commissioner's Cup last season and since then, had gathered supporters who wanted him to see in national tri-colors.
The Syracuse-standout last played in the Korean Basketball League, suiting up for Anyang KGC but his stint had to be cut short due to the CoVID-19 pandemic.
The Samahang Basketball ng Pilipinas planned to create a pool of naturalized players. McCullough was one of the candidates pressed to be included in the pool together with Ateneo Blue Eagles big man Angelo Kouame and UP Maroons reinforcement Malik Diouf.
The SBP through president Al Panlilio already reached out to McCullough. If things pan out as planned, the 6'10" forward will be joining the program that is gearing towards the 2023 World Cup which the country will be co-hosting with Indonesia and Japan.
