Mac Tallo is set to return to Bacolod in the next season of the Chooks-to-Go Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League.
"Noong ni-release ako ng Manila (Stars) after this season, sabi naman nila always welcome ako sa Bacolod," said the six-foot Tallo on Friday.
"That's why I decided na babalik ako sa home team ko sa Bacolod."
Tallo played first for Bacolod this Lakan Cup, and the former Southwestern University standout proved to be a vital cog for the Master Sardines-backed squad.
The ex-Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) player put up 14.8 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 5.2 assists for a strong start.
However, Tallo and Bacolod head coach Vic Ycasiano figured into a misunderstanding, which then prompted the former to leave for Manila, where his role dwindled as he cashed in 3.9 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.7 assists only.
"I actually called Coach Vic, I apologized and masaya naman siya na okay na yung naging misunderstanding namin dati," shared Tallo.
With Tallo leaving Bacolod, the team ultimately struggled and bowed out of the competition with an 11-19 slate, good for the 11th spot in the South Division.
Tallo, though, has high hopes that Bacolod will be way better next season, and he's ready to take on the leadership role for the young Bacolod squad.
"Coach pointed me as a leader of Bacolod. Well, ready naman ako to be a leader saka I'm trying to get conditioned para malaki maitulong ko sa team defensively at lalo na sa offense," he said.
"These guys (my teammates) are athletic and coachable. Fresh from college pero mas malaki at mas malakas ito kaysa noong last year. This year is gonna be different."
