The Rizal Golden Coolers continue to make moves in their bid to turn the corner in the Chooks-to-Go Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League.

After signing Ex-Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) player Eloy Poligrates, they now tap Jonathan Banal as the team's new head coach.

Rizal announced the development on its Facebook page Thursday morning.

Banal took over the head coaching position previously held by JV Gayoso, who steered the Coolers to a lowly 7-22 slate in the MPBL Lakan Cup.

When it comes to coaching experience, Banal had a fair amount of it under his belt.

The former Mapua University Cardinal head-coached the Philippine Navy Women's basketball team in the Women's National Basketball League (WNBL).

Banal is also part of the Mapua Cardinals coaching staff in the National Collegiate Athletic Association, where he was a former Rookie of the Year.

In addition, he works as an assistant coach for  the Marinerong Pilipino Skippers in the Philippine Basketball Association Developmental League (PBA D-League).

Banal isn't new to the Golden Coolers as he served as the team manager of the squad last season.
