The NBA suspended its season until further notice following the positive COVID-19 test results done to Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert and players react to an already eventful first three months of 2020.
"2020 aint it. Don't know what to compare this situation to…just gotta buckle up and take care of yourself and those around you. Basketball will be back at some point but right now, protect yourself and stay safe out there!," said Golden State Warriors guard Steph Curry through his twitter account
Los Angeles Lakers forward Lebron James also took to Twitter to express his concern.
"Man we cancelling sporting events, school, office work, etc etc. What we really need to cancel is 2020!," said James.
Fellow NBA players also shared their thoughts regarding the current COVID-19 crisis.
"So much going on in 2020 already. Feels like a different world.. said Jamal Crawford through his social media account.
"I pray this virus doesn’t fulfill it’s original intent," Boston Celtic's Jaylen Brown expressed
"2020 is being very bad year!! stay safe folks," added Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic.
On Thursday night (Manila Time), Jazz star Donovan Mitchell also tested positive to the virus and he took to his Instagram account to thank all people who wished him well.
"Thanks to everyone who has been reaching out since hearing the news about my positive test. We are all learning more about the seriousness of this situation and hopefully people can continue to educate themselves and realize that they need to behave responsibly both for their own health and for the well being of those around them," Mitchell said.
"I appreciate the authorities in Oklahoma who were helpful with the testing process and everyone from the @utahjazz who have been so supportive. I am going to keep following the advice of our medical staff and hope that we can all come together and be there for each other and our neighbors who need our help," he added.
