Missing the chance to play together in Ateneo, Ravena brothers realize dream with Gilas

Thirdy and Kiefer Ravena will be playing side by side for the first time, something that they wished but weren't able to do in their stint in Ateneo.
Now, that they're both named to Gilas Pilipinas Final 12, Kiefer, the older of the two, said they'll relish the chance and try to make the best out of the opportunity.
"Sumapul din nagkaroon na kami ng opportunity to play together so again opportunity of a life time. Sana makita namin na ito yung sayang na di namin nagawa sa Ateneo but most importantly ito yung kaya namin gawin para sa bansa," said Ravena at the end of their last practice at the Meralco Gym on Thursday.
Thirdy and Kiefer actually have the chance to play together back in 2015 in the Season 77 of the University Athletics Association of the Philippine. But the anticipated partnership between the sons of PBA cager and not TNT head coach Bong Ravena was spoiled after Thirdy was put in academic probation which prevented him from suiting up for Ateneo in Kiefer's final years with the Blue Eagles.
Fast forward to the present time, the two are looking to showcase their talents in the national team, together and Kiefer was optimistic that it will bear good results.
"I was thinking positive about it, playing with my brother for the national is something na not oftenly scene, oftenly done," said the elder Ravena.
"Nagawa na namin yun hopefully we can do it a little bit longer especially Thirdy is up and coming, I've been part of the national team so we work hard I'm sure we can work our way to the national team any time," he added.
For Thirdy's part however, it's a huge responsibility to be part of the team, more so, to be with Kiefer who incidentally was also named as the Gilas captain.
"I mean masaya siya pero at the same time medyo malaking responsibility yun kasi yung kapatid ko para na rin siyang coach, para rin siyang tatay ko kahit on the court tinutulungan nya rin ako," said Thirdy.
"I take responsibility, not just me but everyone to do their part to make sure that we represent the country to the best of our abilities," he added.
The rest of the country will finally see the two together in Gilas uniform once they take on the Indonesian side in a road game on Sunday.
