In a crucial Game Two Quarterfinals match against Pasay, San Juan lost its main big man Larry Rodriguez at the 2:58 mark of the third quarter.

Rodriguez just incurred his second technical foul of the contest Thursday evening in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Lakan Cup at the Angeles University Foundation Gym in Pampanga.

This, after the Ex-Philippine Basketball Association player taunted Dhon Reverente.

From there, the Knights definitely felt the absence of Rodriguez as the Voyagers unleashed a 17-5 run that turned a 42-35 deficit into a 52-47 lead in the fourth quarter.

In the face of Pasay's storm, there came John Wilson telling his teammates to stay calm and show their championship hearts.

"Noong nawala si Larry, kinausap ko yung mga teammates ko na dapat ipakita namin yung playoff experience namin. Dapat ilabas namin yung pagiging defending champions namin," shared Wilson.

But the 6-foot-1 guard wasn't just talking, he was walking the talk.

And as the dust settled, Wilson finished with 17 points, nine of which he scored in the last four minutes of the contest.

The ex-pro also pulled down 16 huge rebounds, dished out three assists, and came up with two steals.

More importantly, Wilson's performance guided the Knights to a 74-67 win which enabled them to sweep the Voyagers in the best-of-three series.

"Nawala si Larry pero nag-take charge si John Wilson especially sa rebounding. Pinakita niya talaga ang pagiging beterano niya," said San Juan head coach Randy Alcantara.

The top seed Knights are set to face fourth seed Giant Lanterns in the Semifinals.
