SMB holds breath as Terrence Romeo hurts right ankle in tune up

by Reynald Magallon, February 21, 2020 1:42pm

The San Miguel Beermen were keeping their fingers crossed as Terrence Romeo went down after hurting his right ankle during their tune up game against the Alaska Aces on Friday at the Upper Deck Gym.

Romeo actually drilled a buzzer beating trey to end the first half before misfortune struck the Beermen. The SMB guard landed and hit a stationary bike near the baseline causing him to tweak his ankle.

The last season Commissioner's Cup Finals MVP, was hopeful that the injury is nothing serious although Romeo admitted he heard something popped on his ankles.

"Pagkatapos ko tumira natapakan ko yung parang bike na bakal, pag step na pag step ko kasi may tumunog eh so sana tapilok lang talaga," said Romeo as team PT's tend him during the break.

SMB were already without June Mar Fajardo and Marcio Lassiter during the mini tournament.

Fajardo suffered from a complete fracture on his right tibia which ruled him out for the rest of the season while Lassiter sustaines a broken nose during their tune up game against Rain or Shine last week.
