David Carlos bagged home his second straight Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Dunk Contest crown on Thursday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Carlos, who won the league's Datu Cup Dunk Contest last year, pulled off two skillful dunks to retain his crown in this year's Lakan Cup competition.

First, the 5-foot-10 professional dunker executed an emphatic windmill dunk to take a perfect score of 50 points in the first round.

He then jumped over four people, including league founder and Senator Manny Pacquiao and his son Jimuel, for another empathic jam that also got a perfect score from the judges in the final round.

"Medyo na-surprised ako. Na-hype ni Nick (event host) yung crowd pero ang dami nang situations na ganito and I had to pull off something sa bag ko na makuha ko yung 80-90 percent. Maganda naman yung result," shared Carlos.

"For me, magsisimula na yung season, mag-tour na kami, malaking event siya para ma-gauge kung nasaan ako, ano kailangan i-tweak sa technique at sa strength ko," he added.

Carlos, who represented Makati anew, bested other participants in Chris Lalata of the Bicol Volcanoes, RJ Ramirez and Nick Demusis of the Bacoor Strikers, and Biboy Enguio of the Muntinlupa Cagers.
