Ginebra San Miguel center Greg Slaughter announced thru his Instagram account that he'll be taking a break from basketball since his contract with the Gin Kings had already expired.
Slaughter posted a series of photos in his six year stay with the Gin Kings where he became a vital part of the Gin Kings' four championship.
"Six years, four championships, a lifetime of experiences and memories. It’s been a fun ride being with this team. I will forever be proud to have played for Ginebra, a dream of mine that came true when they drafted me in 2013," Slaughter wrote.
"With that, now that my contract has expired, I’ve decided to take a break to be able to work on myself in all aspects. I may not know what the future holds, but one thing is for sure, the best is yet to come!," he added.
Slaughter also expressed his gratitude to the Ginebra management and the San Miguel Corporation top brass Ramon S Ang.
"Thank you first and foremost to SMC and Boss RSA, and the rest of the management, Coach Tim and coaching staff, my teammates, and the entire Ginebra community," Slaughter said.
"To the best fans in the world - I can’t thank you enough for all the support you have shown me throughout the years. I will forever be grateful!."
The shock post came amid rumors of a possible trade involving him, Ginebra rookie Jerrick Balanza and NorthPort big man Christian Standhardinger.
While Slaughter doesn't have any live contract with the Gin Kings he's playing right will remain with Ginebra unless it gets traded to another team or they waive it.
