Newly acquired guard Brian Heruela is looking to start afresh with his new team Phoenix Pulse Fuel Master as he hopes to provide them the defense and experience.

the Fuel Masters acquired Heruela in a trade with the Blackwater Elite in exchange of Ron Dennison.

"Syempre major part sa defense defensive schemes namin yan kasi lahat naman scouting reports sa kanya ay defensive player talaga yan di rin naman biro yung kakayahan niya offensively so tingin big addition yan sa aming line-up," Phoenix head coach Louie Alas said of his newest ward.

While defense has been the calling card of the 5'10" bulky guard out of Cebu, Heruela said he can also provide the much needed stability and experience as Phoenix hopes to replicate their Semis run in the All-Filipino Cup last season.

"Playing for San Miguel and TNT especially doing that playoff runs, championship runs the ups and downs, It taught me a lot," said Heruela, a four-time PBA champion with San Miguel and had a Semis run with TNT last season.

"In the elimination and in the playoffs, it's totally a different thing and the mentality that you can take it to the next level, I think I learned that a lot in San Miguel and TNT as well," added Heruela.

While Heruela found himself traded to a new team just a month hew was traded by TNT to Blackwater, the Cebuano guard still sees it as a new opportunity to be better.

"It's been really great. I've been learning a lot in a few days eveyone coaches and my teammates they make it easier for me. Smooth transition and they're very very welcoming and I appreciate that a lot from them," quipped Heruela.

"It's always a blessing new opportunity new journey, I'm really looking forward for the challenge and I hope that I'll be able to help my team."
