FEU Diliman beats Ateneo High, rolls to eighth straight win

Far Eastern University (FEU) Diliman High School beat Ateneo de Manila High School (AdMHS), 67-57, to notch its eighth straight win on Sunday in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) season 82 High School Boys basketball tournament at the FilOil Flying V Centre.
Patrick Sleat showed the way for the Baby Tamaraws with a huge double-double of 18 points and 16 rebounds.
Chiolo Anonuevo backstopped him with nine points, 15 rebounds, and five assists.
Vincent Saldua produced eight points, 12 boards, two assists, and two steals as Jorick Bautista chipped in 15 markers and four caroms.
The Baby Tamaraws pulled away from the Blue Eaglets with a 12-2 run capped by a Bautista transition bucket that turned a 52-50 lead into a 12-point, 64-52 advantage with 3:21 left in the fourth quarter.
FEU then leaned on its defense and offensive rebounding led by Sleat to keep Ateneo at bay for the rest of the way.
The Baby Tamaraws improved to a 8-1 slate, good for the second spot in the team standings.
Ateneo jumped on FEU with a 16-6 run capped by a Raf Pangilinan trey with 3:07 to go in the first period.
The Baby Tamaraws, however, responded with an 18-2 searing rally to grab a 24-18 advantage at the 7:46 mark of the second frame.
From there, both teams engaged in a nip-and-tuck battle until the Blue Eaglets got within two, 50-52, following a LeBron Lopez basket with 8:13 left in the forth quarter.
That was when FEU unleashed the decisive 12-2 killer rin to cruise to the win.
Lopez paced Ateneo with 16 points and 16 rebounds on top of five blocks.
Josh Lazaro backstopped him with eight points, 10 rebounds, and two assists, while Joaquin Jamayline turned in eight points and four boards.
Forthsky Padrigao settled for a quiet game of eight points and three assists after a 30-point performance last timeout.
The Blue Eaglets dropped to a 4-5 slate, tied with the Adamson Baby Falcons at the fourth place.
