Faundo ready to step-up for Meralco as Almazan goes down with injury
by Reynald Magallon, January 15, 2020 11:29am
Back-up big man Bryan Faundo assured the Meralco Bolts that his ready to step up now that Raymond Almazan is still doubtful for Game 4 after sustaining a left knee injury in Game 3.
Almazan went down with an injury with still 5:55 left in the opening frame and was later diagnosed with a lateral meniscal tear. He failed to finish the game and it's still unsure if Almazan can still come back to the series.
But while he's out, Faundo vowed to hold the forth for the Bolts.
"Sobrang kailangan ko talagang mag step up kasi kung ano mang mangyari kay Raymond sana wag naman, ready ako kung anong ibigay sa akin ni coach," said Faundo who showed flashes of what he can do with 10 points and two rebounds.
It will be hard to fill in the big shoes of Almazan though especially that the 6'7" slotman had been the anchor on both ends of the floor for the Bolts averaging 17.5 points, 11 rebounds and 1.5 blocks, but Faundo is ready to take the challenge
"Kailangan ko lang talaga mag step up di ko alam kung babalik siya kailangan ko lang maging ready. Nung tinawag ako, ready lang, ready lang ako," added Faundo.
The Bolts need to win Game 4 if the wish to avoid falling into a 3-1 hole series.
