Dave Ildefonso set to leave NU, transfer to Ateneo

Dave Ildefonso is set to leave National University (NU) and transfer to Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU).
A highly reliable source confirmed the development to Courtside Philippines on Monday, January 13.
Ildefonso's camp finalized the move of the 6-foot-3 forward as it discussed with the Blue Eagles team management on Sunday, January 12, according to the source.
This is homecoming of sorts for Ildefonso as he played high school ball for the Ateneo Blue Eaglets and won a championship with the team in 2018, together with the now Blue Eagle SJ Belangel and the 7-foot-2 wunderkind Kai Sotto.
Ildefonso chose to play college ball for NU, joining his older brother Shaun and father in then Bulldogs assistant coach and Philippine basketball great Danny.
In his two University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Men's basketball tournament seasons with the Jhocson-based squad, Ildefonso played stellarly. However, it did not translate to NU reaching the Final Four in each of those seasons.
Last year in season 82, Ildefonso put up 17.1 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 2.1 assists as the Bulldogs finished with a 2-12 win-loss card, deadlast in the team standings.
According to multiple reports, NU's total coaching revamp that saw Dave's father in Danny shown the exit door factored in the former's decision to leave the Bulldogs.
Goldwyn Monteverde, who's still head-coaching the NU Bullpups in the ongoing UAAP season 82 Juniors basketball tournament, replaced Jamike Jarin as the Bulldogs head coach.
Ildefonso won't see action for Ateneo in season 83 as he needs to serve a one-year residency as the league rule mandates for transferring players.
He will be eligible to play in season 84.
