Standhardinger, Wright lead PBA players to join 'hybrid' Gilas for February window

Christian Standhardinger, Matthew Wright led the PBA players that will be joining the Gilas cadets in the pool for the February window of the 2021 FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers.
Standhardinger who previously played for the Gilas as the team's naturalized player will most likely be this teams' naturalized reinforcement.
NLEX's Poy Erram and Blackwater's Mac Belo were also named in the pool while Magnolia's Marc Pingris was a surprised pick in the pool. The 38-year old veteran will be making his return to the national team pool since his last stint in the 2014 World Cup in Spain.
Gilas mainstays Wright together with Troy Rosario, Japeth Aguilar, RR Pogoy were also named to the pool. PBA rookies Ray Parks and CJ Perez will be making their comeback to the national pool while Kiefer Ravena is set to be reunited with brother Thirdy Ravena.
The younger Ravena was part of the first seven players selected by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas program directot for the Men's basketball Tab Baldwin. The Gilas cadets is comprised of the Gilas picks in the 2019 PBA Rookie draft namely Issac Go, Allyn Bulanadi, Matt and Mike Nieto, and Rey Suerte along with UP defender Jaydee Tungcab.
Also joining the pool were amateur standouts Justine Baltazar of De La Salle, Juan and Javi Gomez de Llano, Kobe Paras of UP, Dave Ildefonso of NU and Dwight Ramos.
While SBP already named its pool, the federation have yet to name its head coach although SBP President Al Panlilio bared that they are likely to tap an interim coach for the February window.
Gilas will be playing Indonesia and Thailand on the said window.
