Japeth Aguilar's 2020 wish: 'My dream is to start a family na rin'
by Reynald Magallon, December 27, 2019 11:34pm
It's been a year-long of grueling basketball for Japeth Aguilar this 2019.
He suited up for Ginebra all of the three conferences this season while also juggling his responsibilities with the national team, playing in the World Cup qualifying windows in the first half of the year, before taking on the World's best in the 2019 World Cup in China.
That stint didn't live up to the expectations of what the Filipino fans envisioned for their national team after finishing dead last but the lanky forward made sure to help Gilas redeem itself by capturing the Gold medal in the Southeast Asian games.
Aguilar then capped the year by helping his team Ginebra make it back to the Finals after dispatching the NorthPort Batang Pier in the Semifinals of the season ending conference.
"I'm just making the most sa basketball career ko kasi talagang di mo na mauulit, lahat ng pagkakataon binubuhos ko rin lahat ng makakaya ko," said Aguilar.
Truly a busy 2019 for the 32 year old cager but no qualms can be heard from Aguilar who just kept on grinding and putting all the work. And that came with a good reason.
It's because come 2020, the veteran forward is hoping to finally build his own family after marrying his long time girlfriend Cassandra Naidas last October.
" My dream is to start a family na rin yun yung pinagpipray ko lagi," shared Aguilar who will be turning 33 on January 25.
"Yung birthday ko is gonna be in January so coming of age na rin so I'm praying a family makapag start na rin," he added.
The focus, for now, however will still be with Ginebra's chase for the championship in the third conference now that they'll be facing the ever-hungry Meralco Bolts.
Aguilar, despite of the celebrations and parties during this time of the year, chose to be more disciplined as he gear up for the expected grind out Best-of-Seven series.
"Medyo maingat kasi kailangan ko mamaintain yung conditioning ko. Maraming mga friends and families na nag-iinnvite sa mga practice so we have to be smart and niremind naman kami ni Coach Tim dun," he said.
