RR Pogoy puts up fiery return but admits still nursing back injury
by Reynald Magallon, December 15, 2019 10:37pm
TNT guard RR Pogoy put up a fiery return for the TNT Katropa as he provided the outside sniping in their 103-94 Game One victory over the Meralco Bolts in their Semifinals series at the Araneta Coliseum on Sunday
Pogoy suffered from a back injury in their Quarterfinals game against the Magnolia Hotshots and had to pull himself out of the Gilas Pilipinas line-up for the Southeast Asian Games. After a two weeks rest, Pogoy didn't look like he was coming off a back injury, smoking hot from downtown with four rainbow connections to finish with 18 points.
The Cebuano guard however admitted he was still far form tip-top shape and was still nursing the back injury.
Nung isang araw nga sumakit duin so nagpahinga ako di ako nag ensayo sa kanila so tinitiis ko lang kasi sayang," said Pogoy after the game.
The 6'2" sniper bared that he had to sit out from practice for a week during PBA's SEA Games break to ensure his recovery.
"Isang week ako di nagpractice talaga nagpahinga muna ako kasi hindi kaya eh after nung last game namin sa Magnolia. one week ako wala talaga akong ginagawa kundi rest lang," he added.
What worries Pogoy however was the hectic schedule of the PBA Semis where they got to play every other day which means he will only have a day of rest for his injured back.
