University of the Philippines (UP) head coach Bo Perasol shared he’s not surprised by the return of Ricci Rivero, Bright Akhutie, and Kobe Paras to the Fighting Maroons for the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) season 83 Men’s basketball tourney.

"I've known these guys to be fighters and winners," said Perasol in a text message to Courtside Philippines.

"It didn't come as a surprise to me that their desire was to play again and finish what they've started," added Perasol.

With the de Liaño brothers in Juan and Javi noncommittal with regards to their return to UP after the State University’s Semifinals exit in season 82, doubts also raised if River, the Nigerian Akhuetie, and Paras will come back for the Fighting Maroons.

Well, the three stars have just returned as was first reported by

The 6-foot-1 Rivero, the 6-foot-8 Akhuetie, and the 6-foot-6 Paras have performed well for the Fighting Maroons last season.

Trying to focus more on defense, Rivero still put up 7.4 markers, 3.9 boards, and 1.5 assists.

On the other hand, Akhuetie - the UAAP season 81 MVP - poured in 14.2 points, 11.6 caroms, and 2.07 dimes.

Paras made his way to the Mythical Team with his averages of 17.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.3 blocks.
