Former De La Salle College of Saint Benilde Blazer Yankee Haruna waited pretty long enough for his name to be called in the 2019 Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Rookie Draft last Sunday, December 10 at the Robinson’s Place Manila.
With the ninth pick in the second round, the Magnolia Hotshots drafted the 6-foot-2 Haruna.
After hearing the program host James Velasquez called him into the stage, the Filipino-American Haruna felt the relief.
“Speechless man. I’m you know, we’re just in there, we don’t know when our names gonna be called but I’m also happy and blessed,” said Haruna.
For Haruna, being drafted in the PBA and having the chance to show what he’s got is a dream come true.
With the opportunity given unto him, Haruna vows to give it his all just like what he used to do in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).
“Being out here, it’s a dream, it’s a dream come true,” uttered Haruna, who was known for his hustle and rugged play in the NCAA.
“Every time I go out there, I always gonna play my 100 percent. I just everything I got,” he remarked.
“I’m blessed, you know. I’m just blessed to be a part of it (Magnolia).”
