Gilas Pilipinas continues its dominance in the Southeast Asian Games Men’s 3x3 basketball, routing Thailand in the Semifinals, 21-11, to reach the Finals of the tournament on Monday at the FilOil Flying V Centre.
Moala Tautuaa and Jason Perkins asserted their might in the paint once more as the former scored seven points and the latter notched six markers in the ball game.
C-Jay Perez and Chris Newsome provided the razzle-dazzle, eluding and scoring over the opposition with their impressive ball handling, speed, athleticism, and nifty finishing around the rim. Perez totaled five points as Newsome cashed in three points.
The Filipinos were quick to find their groove as they raced to a 10-2 lead at the 7:03 mark of the contest.
And with the quartet of Perez, Newsome, Perkins, and Tautuaa still locked in, Gilas went on to lead by as much as 11 points, 18-7, following a Perkins inside incursion at the 2:08 mark.
Tautuaa then hit the win-clinching deuce at the 35.6-second mark as the Philippines remain spotless through seven games of the tournament.
Gilas faces Indonesia in the gold medal match later in the afternoon.
