KJ McDaniels erupted for 44 points as the TNT Katropa put a stop to their three game slide and survive the San Miguel Beermen, 114-109, to secure a twice to beat advantage in the 2019 Governors' Cup at the Ynares Center, Antipolo.

Troy Rosario backstopped him with 30 markers while RR Pogoy added 17 markers.

"We came from three straight losses so grabe kaimportante yung game na ito para sa amin," said TNT head coach Bong Ravena.

"Our locals stepped up and Jayson is back, Troy played really well, Roger, Ryan everybody. San Miguel really made it hard for us to get this win," he added.

The Katropa looked poise to cruise to victory after leading the Beermen in double digits for the most part of the second half. SMB however came alive in the final frame as Terrence Romeo, import John Holland and Chris Ross joined hands for an 11-0 rally to cut the 12 point TNT lead ath the 8:04 mark to 96-95 with 5:47 left in the game.

Rosario and McDaniels then played the fireman role, sinking back-to-back treys to stop the fiery SMB run.

Both team exchanged baskets in the ensuing plays before Marcio Lassiter scored on a layup, Ross nailed a triple, and Holland drilled his first three pointer of the game after missing his first nine attempts to take complete another 8-0 spurt and take the driver seat, 108-107 with 49 seconds remaining.

McDaniels though comes through once again for the Katropa as he nailed a three pointer to shove TNT ahead.

June Mar Fajardo then had the chance to tie the game but his botched his second free throw. He got the rebound but he missed on a gimmie with 16 seconds left.

TNT secured the rebound which led to McDaniels free throws that sealed the deal for the Katropa.

Holland rebounded from a forgetful debut with 25 points and 11 rebounds although he shot 1-of-10 from deep. He was backstopped by Romeo and Ross who chipped in 18 and 16 points respectively. That, however weren't enough as the Beermen fell to the fifth spot of the standing, setting up a duel against the twice-to-beat Ginebra San Miguel. TNT meanwhile climbed to third spot and will be facing the defending champions Magnolia Hotshots.
