Northport Batang Pier forward Sean Anthony believed that his team is finally picking it up and putting things together after winning two crucial games against top teams in the 2019 Governors' Cup standings and book themselves a Quarterfinals berth.
Anthony pointed out that this conference was a roller coaster ride for the Batang Pier, having to deal with injuries, import changes and player trades and that it was just recently that they're finally getting their groove as a unit.
" There's a lot of up and downs in the season, injuries, I was out then Bolick got out, new import, some trades, new players so we're finally kinda feeling each other out and everyone's kinda helping out," said Anthony who finished with 18 points, six rebounds and six assists in their huge win against Ginebra San Miguel which formally punched their playoffs ticket.
"We're kinda hitting our strides on the right time so we're looking forward to the playoff with a bit of rhythm with back-to-back wins against two great teams so hopefully we're peaking at the right now and that's gonna be good going to the playoffs," Anthony explained.
The Fil-American forward also lauded their import Michael Qualls who has been a big part of NorthPort's resurgence.
"Huge. You see how explosive he is, his intensity his hunger so he comes out and really pushes guys to play their best and their hardest and we feed off him and he's a big boost for us," he said of Qualls who put up another impressive performance in thei play off clinching game with 30 points and 13 rebounds.
Expected to have a twice-to-win disadvantage, the Batang Pier is bracing for a tough Quarterfinals with their backs against the wall just like the past two games. Anthony however stressed that Northport will be taking it a game at a time against whoever opponent they will be facing.
"Backs against the wall just like the last two games, do-or-die, so we'll just take it one game at a time," uttered Anthony.
"If we play Meralco we play them tough and if we play nlex, we had a good game against them so I think we can match-up well so we'll just look at that first game and hopefull pull off that first one."
