Birthday boy Kevin Alas set for PBA return after recovery from second ACL injury
by Reynald Magallon, November 13, 2019 12:15pm
NLEX guard and birthday boy Kevin Alas will be making his return to the hard court on his 28th birthday on Wednesday, nine months after suffering from his second Arterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury.
Alas was already good to go when NLEX faced the Magnolia Hotshots but head coach Yeng Guiao opted to postpone his return owing to the 'Ynares Curse'. Incidentally, Alas got his right knee injured in Ynares last February against the Hotshots.
"We postponed it kasi nasa Ynares na naman tayo tapos Magnolia na naman ang kalaban. So wala namang mawawala kung hindi kami magmamadali," said Guiao after his team once again pull-off another epic comeback this time recovering from a 26-point hole to beat Magnolia.
Instead, Alas will be making his return when his team takes on the NorthPort Batang Pier. Guiao however bared that expects Alas to play in limited minutes still, in hopes to just make him feel the competition once again.
"S miyerkules maglalaro na siya just to geth him going and let him feel just to be back in the competition pero siyempre sundut-sundot lang muna yun di pa namin bibiglain," shared Guiao.
For Alas' part, he assured everyone that he's already in good shape and ready to take on the court once again.
"More than one month na rin ako nagpapractice with the team eh, full practice, so ready na ako. Siguro sa utak na lang kalaban ko ngayon eh," said Alas.
On Tuesday, NLEX through its official twitter account @ArangkadaNLEX welcomed the explosive guard back while quoting him about his PBA return and his recent injury.
"Feeling blessed ito lang naman ang gusto ko, ang makabalik. Prayer ko lang maging healthy ako for the rest of my career," NLEX quoted Alas.
"Siguro ito ang plano ng Diyos sa akin, to inspire the others facing the struggles."
