Kiefer Ravena gets sigh of relief as late free throw miss nearly cost NLEX the game
by Reynald Magallon, November 12, 2019 9:51am
NLEX guard Kiefer Ravena had a sigh of relief after the game as late free throws miss nearly cost the Road Warriors the game and put to waste the furious 26-point comeback. Fortunately for Ravena, Jericho Cruz rescued the Road Warriors, scoring on the stick back off that free throw miss to steal the game from the Magnolia Hotshots, 86-85.
"Suwerte lang na nanalo, buti na lang si Jericho nandoon. Right place at the right time. Free throw na naman. Walang kamatayang free throw. Hindi na natapos ‘yung free throw sa career ko.Sabi siguro ni Lord, nung nag-mintis ‘yun tapos natapik ni Poy, sakto lang na nandoon si Jericho," he said of the last play.
Ravena, however, was a bit hard on himself after missing the freebie, saying that for someone who the team rely on during crunch time, it's unacceptable for him to botch the foul shots.
"Nasa pro na ako eh. I can’t have moments like that again. Not acceptable for me, for my teammates especially tinitingala ka sa endgame, ikaw ang aasahan, tapos sa free throw, mag-mimintis ka," said Ravena who finished with seven points on a rough 2-of-10 shooting from the field
"That’s why it’s a big deal for me missing those type of shots," he added.
While NLEX managed to pull off another great comeback the second time this conference, Ravena said the Road Warriors cannot afford to be in that 20-point hole again.
"We don’t like being in that type of hole. Suwerte lang na breaks of the game ‘yung nangyari. Magnolia was shooting the lights out in the first half. Looking at the scoreboard, eto na naman tayo. Mahirap na naman ng hahabulin."
