Jericho Cruz wants to repay Guiao's faith after career resurgence with NLEX

NLEX forward Jericho Cruz just wanted to repay coach Yeng Guiao's trust after his career resurgence with the Road Warriors.
Cruz career was momentarily halted when he got traded to the TNT Katropa and was relegated to the reserve list in the latter part of his stint with the Katropa. He was then traded to NLEX where he got reunited with Guiao who drafted him when he was still in Rain or Shine.
"Sobrang happy ako to be with coach again, gumanda yung rookie year ko under him sa Rain or Shine, so he's the one that gave me the chance to play, what I can do on the court eh so ngayon pagdating ko dito binibigay niya uli sa akin yun eh, syempre ayokong ipahiya si Coach so giving it back every game I'm giving my 110 percent win or lose alam ko sa sarili na binigay yung best ko," said Cruz after finishing with 13 points, none bigger than the last two which he nailed after getting the rebound off a Kiefer Ravena miss from the foul line.
Cruz nailed the game winner in their thrilling 86-85 victory over the Magnolia Hotshots, the Road Warriors second come back win in the conference after trailing by as much as at least 26-points.
"Inisip ko lang yung nangyari yung rookie ako, nagawa ko rin din kasi yun sa Alaska game, so naisip ko baka maulit in case mag mintis si Kiefer so yun lang yung ginawa ko 100 percent na papasok ako para rumebound luckily napunta sa side ko, ayun nakachamba," he said of his game winner.
Cruz actually bared that NLEX coaching staff were close to giving up saying that the Road Warriors maybe are really bound to lose after their five-game winning streak. The loss could also be a timely wake up call for them for Cruz and the rest of the Road Warriors just didn't want to give up.
"Galit na galit nga si coach eh sabi nga sa amin ni coach wala na kami mga utak eh so yun nga sabi lang ni coach na sinabi niya rin sa mga coaching staff na maybe it;s time na matalo kami para it's a wake up call for us," he shared.
"But kasi a player we didn't want to give up, we played our hearts out and sabi nga ni coach special group, 'yung grupo namin ngayon, nagawa namin sa Ginebra and ngayon sa Magnolia naman," said Cruz.
Nonetheless, Cruz said games like that we'll be beneficial for the Road Warriors especially that they're looking for a deep playoff run after getting the twice-to-beat edge in the playoffs
"It's a big boost for us, at the same time yung experience kahit papaano yung madadala sa playoffs, yung mga ganung laro na medyo dikitan kasi dati nung wala pa si Kiefer yung game namin pagdating ng end game medyo nawawala, natatalo kami so ngayon may mga natutunan kami from the last conference, which is nadadala namin ngayon hopefully madala namin sa playoff to."
