Pirates had no regrets after loss to Knights as they gave it their all, says Marcelino twins

Lyceum of the Philippines University’s (LPU) bid to reach the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Men’s basketball tournament Finals for the third straight year didn’t materialize.
This, after the Pirates lost to the Colegio de San Juan de Letran (CSJL) Knights. 92-88, on Friday, November 8, in their knockout Semifinals game at the Cuneta Astrodome.
While the loss obviously stings for LPU squad, which is already eliminated this season 95, the Marcelino twins in Jaycee and Jayvee shared the Pirates regretted nothing after the defeat, saying they gave it all that they got.
“Sa akin naman lumaban namin kami ng buong puso kaya wala kaming regret sa pagkatalo namin kasi alam namin na binigay namin yung best namin, “ said Jaycee, who scored a game-high 26 points, on top of three rebound and three assists
“Lahat naman kami tsaka ayun nga nagkulang nga lang kami. Kinapos pero binigay namin yung best naming lahat. Nandun naman yung effort. Puso talaga kung lumaban kaming lahat kanina, kinapos lang talaga,” he added.
Lyceum fought hard, indeed.
The Pirates trailed the Knights by as much as 12 points in the third quarter and were still playing catchup basketball in the last 45.8 seconds as they were down by seven points, 90-83.
However, they pulled themselves within three points, 90-87, following Jaycee’s two straight baskets, with the last one being a nifty layup at the 24-second mark.
Still, that comeback bid fell short as a Larry Muyang inside incursion at the 18.1-second mark and a Mike Nzesseu split from the line with 9.3 ticks spelled doom for Lyceum.
“Lahat naman binigay namin sa laro e. Kinapos talaga tapos sinuwerte sila. Pero masakit talaga eh. Kaya siguro yun kaya ayun natalo kami, remarked Jayvee, who punched in five points, three rebounds, three assists, and two steals in the loss.
“Hindi regret sa amin na natalo kami kasi ayun nga binigay namin talaga lahat,” he added.
