Malonzo drops career-high 34 points to lead La Salle’s domination of Adamson, end UAAP career with win

Jamie Malonzo went bonkers in his last University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) game, dropping a career-best 34 points to lead De La Salle University (DLSU) to an 89-63 win Wednesday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Malonzo shot 12-of-21 from the field, including 7-of-12 from downtown as he set the tone for the Green Archers’ wire-to-wire victory.
With the win, the already eliminated La Salle finished its elimination campaign with a 7-7 win-loss card, good for the fifth spot in the team standings.
The Green Archers jumped on the Soaring Falcons as it rained arrows on the latter in the form of a 13-0 assault capped by a Malonzo triple at the 6:35 mark of the first quarter.
La Salle never looked back from there and went on to lead by 21 points, 50-29, at the half and led by as much as 30 points, 66-36, following an Encho Serrano basket with about three minutes left in the third period.
Malonzo added 12 rebounds to his name, while Justin Baltazar backstopped him with a double-double of 14 markers and 13 boards.
The also graduating player and Green Archers team captain Andrei Caracut chipped in 14 points, six assists, and three caroms.
AP Manlapaz cashed in 15 points and four rebounds to pace Adamson as Ejie Mojica provided support of nine markers and four boards.
Jerom Lastimosa and Congolese center Lenda Douanga turned in nine and six points, respectively, in the loss.
The Soaring Falcons finished their season 82 campaign with a 4-10 slate, good for the sixth spot in the team standings.
