Jerom Lastimosa on Adamson’s elimination: ‘Sobrang sakit’

by Niel Victor Masoy, October 25, 2019 7:36pm

Adamson University (AdU) bowed out of contention for a Final Four spot after losing to Far Eastern University (FEU) on Wednesday in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) season 82 Men’s basketball tournament at the Araneta Coliseum.

And Soaring Falcons sophomore point guard Jerom Lastimosa just couldn’t help but share how painful it is that Adamson won’t be in the Semifinals for the first time since 2016.

“Sobrang sakit din kasi last season nakapasok kami ng Final Four tapos ngayon biglang nahulog kami,” said Lastimosa.

“Iniingatan din namin yung pagka Final Four namin last year tsaka nahihiya kami sa mga nagi-expect sa amin na maka Final Four kami, maka championship kami.”

While the Soaring Falcons (4-8) are ready to accept this setback, Lastimosa also rued that had they came through especially in crunch time, they would have how those close games and still be in the thick of things in the Final Four race.

“Siguro tatanggapin na lang namin ngayon kung ano yung natanggap namin ngayon,” uttered Lastimosa.

“Kung nagawa namin sa mga crucial part sa game nakapasok pa kami ng Final Four this year. Wala, dun lang talaga sa mga crucial part eh,” added Lastimosa, whose Adamson squad even blew a 12-point fourth quarter lead and lost to University of the Philippines (UP) last Sunday.

Personally, Lastimosa also didn’t like his performance for this season. While his stats for this year are higher than his stats in season 81, Lastimosa was not about to choose his numbers for this season 82 because of his inconsistency.

For reference, the 5-foot-9 point guard put up 7.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.8 assists in season 81; and now he’s turning in 8.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.3 assists this season 82.

“Mas bet ko yung last year ko kaysa ngayon. Kasi yung season ngayon parang wala eh, up siya tapos bababa naman, parang wala pa rin,” said the 21-year-old Lastimosa.

That being said, Lastimosa aims to play his last two games for the season on a high note, while also helping his teammates up.

“Siguro gagalingan ko na lang next two games tsaka gagawin ko na lang lahat kung ano yun pinapagawa ng mga coaches ko. Ihi-help ko yung mga teammates ko at ibibigay ko yung best ko sa last two games.”
