Brownlee doesn't mind missing out third straight triple-double as long as Ginebra gets the win
by Reynald Magallon, October 20, 2019 10:35pm
Ginebra San Miguel import was a rebound shy from a possible third straight triple-double game but the Kings resident import did not mind anyways as long as his team gets the victory at the end of the buzzer.
Brownlee pumped in 27 points, 10 assists and nine boards in Ginebra's rout of their rival Magnolia Hotshots, 105-83 on Sunday.
"I wish I could have got it but well we got the win that's the main thing I'm just happy we got the win," said Brownlee after the game.
With the victory the Kings improved to a 3-2 record enough for the fifth spot of the standings and strengthen their bid for a Top 4 finish at the end of the eliminations. The Kings also bounced back huge from the back-to-back horror losses to Phoenix Fuel Masters and the NLEX Road Warriors by beating the other teams under the SMC umbrella in a back-to-back fashion.
"I'm hoping that it will give us a lot of confidence. San Miguel is one of the greatest teams probably for what I've heard that the league ever has so beating them and then beating the defending champions in this conference, I hope it gives us a lot of confidence boost of morale because losing against NLEX and Phoenix we defiinitely went down about that but we bounced back," said Brownlee.
Brownlee was also hopeful that the Kings can ride the momentum to their next games especially that a twice-to-beat incentive is waiting for the Top 4 teams after the eliminations.
"Very huge for us looking forward and to feel good about our selves and try to create some momentum going forward. No game is gonna be easy so we just tried to create some momentum," added the high-scoring import.
"There's a lot of good teams and a lot of good imports if we can stay in the Top 4 it will definitely be a little easier road to try and get what we want to accomplish."
