Ginebra forward and now assistant coach to Cone in Gilas, Joe Devance will serve as Cone's extension teaching everyon about the system and to some extent serve as a glue guy for the team.
"He's probably one of my most active coaches because he has relationship with every player in the league. you know Joe, he's a relationship guy, He gets along with everybody. Everybody knows him. He is either talking socially or he is talking basketball. But he is always talking," Cone said of his new Gilas assistant who played under him ever since 2008.
" He knows what we demand more than anybody so I'm pleased he's here and helping us out," Cone added.
As for veteran Coach Jong Uichico, he will be serving as the team lead scout according to Guiao.
"Jong has been helping out big time I should say in terms of helping us out with scouting, lineups, and what’s going around in the leagues. He's been great help to us so far. He is going to be our lead scout but we will gonna have different people assigned to different teams," Cone explained.
"He will definitely be our lead scout. He’s just really on the go. He’s got the time. The rest of us are practicing everyday and he's got the time to investigate. He is a great addition. I’m so happy we have Jong," the winningest coach in the PBA said.
Alapag meanwhile will be a huge help in preparing the players for the tournament.
"Jimmy is going to help us with the practice games," said Cone.
Cone also bared the plan to have Gilas and Alapag's Alab Pilipinas in a scrimmage to help each other gear up for their respective tourneys.
