Gilas gets perfect attendance as national team resumes practice
by Reynald Magallon, October 10, 2019 8:25pm
Gilas Pilipinas finally got their 15 man-pool together in the resumption of the national team's practice on Thursday at the Meralco Gym
Present in the practice were Ginebra players Greg Slaughter, LA Tenorio, Scottie Thompson, Art Dela Cruz, Stanley Pringle and Japeth Aguilar. San Miguel Beer stars Chris Ross, Christian Standhardinger and June Mar Fajardo were also in the building alongside Alaska's Vic Manuel.
TNT's Jayson Castro, Troy Rosario, RR Pogoy and Phoenix's Matthew Wright also showed up despite playing for their respective mother clubs in the PBA the night before.
Among the 15, only Lassiter was not able to join the practice while Fajardo joined the team for the first time after skipping last week's practice due to his ankle injury.
"I'm really trying to at this point not tax the players. We're just trying to get a feel of what we do we're not really doing any competitively on practice. If we do something competitive, it was just two or three repetitions and the we move on to something else," said Cone after the practice that only spanned for only more than an hour and a half.
"We cut it short today because it was a Thursday and we had the TNt players played last night, and then San Miguel's playing tomorrow so I was trying to recognize that fact. I don't want to push these guys so hard. We came in and just did a couple of things and we did those things well. We did it quickly they understood it fast so we had a fast practice," explained Cone.
Gilas will resume to their usual Monday night practice next week.
