TNT Katropa made the big plays down the stretch to survive a gritty Columbian Dyip, 125-120 and stay unblemished in the 2019 Governors' Cup at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
TNT was just holding on to a razor thin 105-104 lead following a CJ Perez and-1 play for the Dyip. Almond Vosotros stretched the lead to three with two free throws but Andreas Cahilig tied the game with a rainbow connection. KJ McDaniels shoved TNT back ahead but three free throws from Rashawn McCarthy and Khapri Alston gave Columbian the lead 110-109.
Jayson Castro however scored on an and-1 before nailing two more free throws to restore order for the Katropa. Perez retaliated with a layup but Castro scored from the foul line on the end. Perez then nailed a long bomb to come within one 116-115.
TNT, who surrendered a 14-point advantage early in the game, did not falter as Troy Rosario, Mcdaniels and Trollano nailed crucial baskets to put the dagger on the Dyip.
McDaniels unloaded 29 points to spearhead the Katropa while RR Pogoy and Castro chipped in 27 and 25 points.
Alston paced the Dyip with 38 big points while McCarthy and Perez adedd 26 and 23 markers respectively.
That, however, was not enough as the Dyip dropped to a 2-2 win-loss card. TNT on the other hand remained spotless in three games.
It was a tight first quarter with both teams showcasing their offensive capabilities. TNT though managed to take a one-point lead, 32-31 at the end of the first frame. TNT then sustained their offensive groove unloading 34 points in the second frame to take a 66-53 lead heading into the break.
