Zamboanga looks for second-straight win as Basilan hopes to halt skid

by Jim Lemuel Wilson, October 05, 2019 1:38pm

The Zamboanga Family’s Brand Sardines look to get their second-straight win as they take on the skidding Basilan Steel tonight in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Lakan Cup at the Rizal Memorial College Gymnasium.

With even more new recruits coming to the Britt Reroma-mentored side, Zamboanga is hoping to follow up on their 62-52 win against the GenSan Warriors on September 25 and add one more win to their 9-8 win-loss record.

The Jerson Cabiltes-coached team, meanwhile, is hoping to bounce back from their past two defeats, the last one coming at the hands of the Manila Stars, 65-66, on October 2, and improve on their 9-7 record.

Game time is set at 6:30 pm.

In the 4:00 pm game, the 6-10 Parañaque Patriots take on the 11-5 GenSan Warriors. The Rizal Xentro Mall Golden Coolers (3-9) and the Nueva Ecija ForestLake (2-12), meanwhile, will cap the night starting at 8:30 pm. Rizal is just two places higher than Nueva Ecija, who are at the bottom of the team standings in the North Division.
