Golden State adds Marquese Chriss to roster

by Eugene Flores, September 26, 2019 6:00pm

The Golden State Warriors signed former Cleveland Cavalier Marquese Chriss on a one-year deal according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.

The 6'10' power forward pick-up can help relive the position of Draymond Green and Jonas Jerebko off the bench. The former eight overall pick in the 2016 NBA draft averaged 7.6 points and 4.5 rebounds with the Cavs.

Chriss was first drafted by the Phoenix Suns where he played his first year before getting traded to the Houston Rockets and eventually ending up  with the Cavaliers in his second season.

The addition of Chriss will give the Warriors a new look come the 2019-2020 NBA season after the departure of Kevin Durant, the retirement of Shaun Livingston, and the trade of Andre Iguodala.

Head coach Steve Kerr will banner a taller lineup this season led by Andrew Bogut, returning Kevin Looney and acquisitions Willie Cauley-Stein and Chriss as they have to play without the other half of the splash brother, Klay Thompson who is still nursing from his ACL injury.
