Steph Curry wants to play for Team USA in 2020 Tokyo Olympics

Two-time National Basketball Association Most Valuable Player Steph Curry has expressed his desire to be part of the Team USA that will be going for the gold in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, this after the team’s disappointing performance in the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup.

Curry made his intentions known in an interview with ESPN’s Rachel Nichols.

"That is the plan, for sure," the three-time NBA champion said. "You know, obviously knock on wood, you don't want any injuries or things like that to interfere."

Should he get the call, Curry will be playing his first Olympic stint. He previously won gold with Team USA in the 2010 and 2014 editions of the World Cup.

"Definitely wanna go," Curry said. "I've never been on the Olympic team. I've been on two World Cup Championship gold medal teams. But the Olympics is the experience that I want. And next year will hopefully be it."

Curry also said that the Americans are still the best in basketball if they get the right talent representing their country.

"We're still the best," Curry said. "If we get the guys that are supposed to be there, in terms of, you know, representing us in the Olympic stage and the commitment's been there, and I think it'll be there next year."
