The Bacoor City Strikers proved to be the hotter team against the Bicol Volcanoes in the end game to come home with a, 84-80, win in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Lakan season at their very own Strike Gymnasium.
It was midway of the final quarter when both teams got engaged in a shooting battle trading three-point bombs.
Mike Canete and Mike Pangilinan matched the fire of Bicol's Jerome Garcia and Ronjay Buenafe. RJ Ramirez tied the game at 71 after faking off Buenafe for a floater.
Garcia then answered with another bombing triple, Bicol lead. Mike Montuano replied for Bacoor sparking a personal 6-0 run to carry a 77-74 advantage.
After a timeout, Garcia knocked down another triple but Ian Melencio quickly took it back with a corner trey, 80-77.
Buenafe missed the top of the key shot as Melencio put two more points off free throws to give them a five-point cushion, good enough to hold off Bicol.
Canete scored 16 points to lead the Strikers while grabbing 10 rebounds as Montuano and Pangilinan finished with 12 points each. Ramirez was the last to reach the double-digit mark with 11 points.
Buenafe had the game-high of 21 points but cold off in the crucial minutes while Garcia finished with 15 points, including three important treys in the fourth.
The game saw a combined 22 three-pointers made with Bacoor capitalizing for a 11-3 (win-loss) card. Bicol, on the other hand, slipped their last three to go 8-7 in the standings.
