by Reynald Magallon, August 17, 2019 11:00pm
San Miguel beer forward Arwind Santos may have took a lesser role and minutes in their recent championship run but the outspoken forward bared that he got the most valuable life lessons after the eventful six-game series.
Santos went controversial after Game Five of their titular series after his not a few observers pointed out his apparent racial slur against TNT import Terrence Jones that was caught on television. The lanky forward came under fire from fans, other players and even some officials. Jones took offense and Santos got penalized by the league.
Santos posted an apology to his official twiiter account the next day before personally apologizing to Jones before the start of the Game Six of their championship series.
The lanky forward finally got the sigh of relief on Friday night after Jones accepted his apology saying that he just want Santos to respect him, which the latter admitted that it was a huge mistake on his part.
"I'm a human being I just want him to the respect me as a person, as a father, as a black man. I'm here to represent my family. I'm not saying anything bad on anybody else's culture so that's all I'm saying," said Jones.
For Santos, Jones forgiveness was an extra reason to be happy after collecting his ninth championship in the league.
"Masayang masaya ako hindi lang sa championship but yung peace of mind bago maglaro kanina."
