Gilas Pilipinas rookie Robert Bolick is hoping to the part of the Final 12 lineup of the national team, but he vowed to continue to help the squad if ever coach Yeng Guiao decides not to include the former King Red Lion in the team’s World Cup lineup.
For now, Bolick is content to take in all the learning that he can gain from the veteran talent surrounding him.
“Yun yung gusto kong matutunan dito: matutunan kung paano sila mag-practice, paano yung style nila, paano sila nagi-improve. Ayun yung gusto kong matutunan,” Bolick said after the team’s practice on Friday.
“At the same time siyempre gusto kong maglaro sa World Cup. Siyempre kasi it’s a once in a lifetime experience. It only comes every four years. But the decision is always with coach Yeng. That’s what I like about him, he has his own decision. Kung ano yung decision niya, paninindigan niya,” he added.
Should he not make the cut, Bolick vowed to do other things that the team may need during the World Cup.
“Sa akin naman, mapili o hindi mapili, I’m here to help the team the best way I can. Kung mapili man ako, siyempre pagtatrabahuhan ko. Kung hindi man ako mapili, we help them sa preparation, scouting,” Bolick said.
“Kailangan naming gawin yon for the team e. Kasi it’s not the PBA anymore, it’s the Philippine team. Kailangan magtulungan kami dito,” he added.
