San Miguel, TNT lock horns for pivotal Game Five
by Reynald Magallon, August 13, 2019 10:55pm
One between the San Miguel Beermen and the TNT Katropa will be an inch closer to the Commissioner's Cup title after the two teams lock horns in the pivotal Game Five of their Best-of-7 Finals series at the Araneta Coliseum on Wednesday.
With the series now down to a virtual Best-of-Three, the winner of the Game Five will be one win away from claiming the championship. And with the stakes that high, both teams are eager to leave everything on the hard court.
BPC winner Jayson Castro and Best import awardee Terrence Jones are expected to lead the pack once again for TNT who are looking to bounce back from the Game Four loss. TNT's comeback bid fell short as June MAr Fajardo and import Chris McCullough doused cold water on the Katropa's fiery run towards the end with timely hits.
The momentum, however, seemingly on the Beermen side now after tying the series once again at two-games apiece with Fajardo and Cabagnot displaying their usual deadly form.
"I salute all of my player because we were able to follow our game plan and I hope this game will give us some momentum and confidence going to the Game Five. It's really hard to win against TNT, they're really prepared and eager to beat us," said San Miguel head coach Leo Austria after the 106-101 triumph in Game Four.
On the other hand, Castro said the Katropa shall address their defense to get back on the series lead.
"Siguro yung defense yung magpapanalo samin kung paano namin sila i-stop. Kasi yung offense kapag maganda yung defense namin, yung offense napakadali sa amin eh. Pero kapag nag-start kami ng flat pati yung points namin naapektuhan. We need to focus sa defense talaga. Especially sa mga pick and roll nila."
Tip-off of Game Five will be at 7PM.
