The Quezon City Capitals-Wemsap is back on the winning column after capitalizing the five-man absence for the Imus-Khaleb Shawarma, 105-93, in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) at the Strike Gymnasium in Bacoor, Cavite.

Jayjay Helterbrand, Gelo Vito, Mikee Reyes, Mark Doligon, and James Martinez, all key players, did not see action for Imus due to injuries and prior commitments.

Zags Gonzaga was hot for QC as he top-scored with 19 points, including five triples, on top of five rebounds while team captain Ron Mabayo added a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds.

For Imus, it was Jar-ar Ng Sang and Gerald Anderson who carried the load with 14 points and 13 points respectively.

QC was dominant in the first two quarters, ending the half with a 47-38 advantage.

Emcee Caceres free throws early in the third frame cut Imus deficit to seven, 43-50 before Peejay Barua bombed away consecutive triples followed by another long trey by Tayongtong to push QC's lead, 71-56. Magi Sison then ended the quarter with another triple to make it, 84-66.

Imus then made some run in the fourth courtesy of Ghed Ong inside scoring followed by a steal that led to an Anderson layup, 84-91. Joco Toyongtong, Mark Carongoy, and Clark Derigue then answered the call for QC as they made baskets to put out Imus' run.

The win gives QC a 5-4, win-loss, card as for Imus a 2-6 record.

Imus will be matching up with the Nueva Ecija MiGuard at the Batangas City Coliseum on August 20 while QC will face the Davao Occidental Tigers at the Pasig Sports Complex on August 16.
