Lakers will take full of use of James, Davis, Cousins on the post, says coach Vogel

The Los Angeles Lakers will take full use of the advantage that LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and DeMarcus Cousins have on the post when they go to battle in the next National Basketball Association season, head coach Frank Vogel said in a lakersnation.com podcast on Sunday (Philippine time).
As coach of the Indiana Pacers from 2011 to 2016, Vogel made full use of the post, with the team’s offense and defense anchored in the presence of big guys David West and Roy Hibert. But the new Lakers coach said that the post offense he is going to implement is ‘very different’ from the one he ran at Indiana.
“It’s different. That approach was to try to be a power-post offense and pound it inside, you know, slow down the game a little bit in the halfcourt and play through the post,” Vogel said.
“We’ll do that more here than I’ve done the last few years and more than the rest of the league does because of guys like DeMarcus, AD, and LeBron. Those guys will get a lot of touches in there,” he added.
Vogel said that he wants to create a post-offense with a model of player movement and cutting to the hoop, much like how Golden State does it.
“I love what Golden State has done. As much as everyone talks about their pace and their break and their three-point shooting, their cutting is what I think a lot of people would say was their best attribute. And a lot of that action happened when the ball was in the post,” Vogel said.
“So, we will take advantage of that with the guys that I mentioned. But it will be very different than the offensive approach at least that we had in Indiana,” he continued.
Outside of the three, Vogel will also have Danny Green, Kyle Kuzma, Rajon Rondo, Avery Bradley, Javale McGee, Quinn Cook, Alex Caruso, and Jarred Dudley, among others. All of them will play a role in their offense with their ability to hit shots from different parts of the floor.
