Alvin Pasaol to miss Bucharest Challenger

by Jim Lemuel Wilson, August 08, 2019 10:46pm

Balanga Chooks-to-Go will miss the services of Alvin Pasaol when they go to Romania for the 2019 FIBA 3X3 Bucharest Challenger as the former University of the East star had his visa denied.

As expected, Pasaol is saddened by the development.

"Sobrang lungkot kasi parang maiiwan ko teammates ko dahil sa visa problem. Pero sobrang laki ng tiwala ko sa kanila na kaya nilang manalo," said Pasaol, who is ranked as the 113th 3x3 player in the world.

Also not being granted visas to Romania were Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3x3 commissioner Eric Altamirano, team scout Anton Altamirano, team physical therapist Kharl Oaferina, and team photographer Joaqui Flores.

Karl Dehesa, Chris De Chavez, and Travis Franklin easily got their visas as they all hold US passports. The FIBA 3X3 tournament will take place from August 10 and 11.

Balanga opens its campaign against USA's Colorado City on August 10 at 3:20 pm (Manila time) before taking on Russian club Kochenevo later in the day at 4:40 pm. The team that will top the group will advance to Pool D with USA's NY Harlem and Canada's Edmonton.
