The Minnesota Timberwolves have signed 19-year-old rookie Jaylen Nowell, whom they selected 43rd overall in the 2019 National Basketball Association draft.

On Tuesday, the team’s President of Basketball Operations Gersson Rosas announced the signing.

Nowell was named the 2018-19 Pac-12 Player of the Year after averaging 16.2 points, on 50.2% from the field, 5.3 rebounds and 3.1 assists in his sophomore season at the University of Washington.

Nowell, a Seattle native, was one of 10 finalists for the Jerry West Award, recognizing the nation’s top shooting guard.

The 6’ 4” guard was also the fastest player in Washington history to reach 1,000 career points.
