CJ McCollum has signed a three-year contract extension with the Portland Trail Blazers worth $100 million on Wednesday (Philippine time), according to ESPN’ Adrian Wojnarowski.
The new deal extends McCollum’s current contract to five years and $157 million, Wojnarowski wrote on Twitter citing the high-scoring guard's agent, Sam Goldfeder of Excel Sports.
McCollum played 70 games for Portland in the regular season last year and averaged 21 points, four rebounds, three assists, 0.8 steals, 0.4 blocks, and 33.9 minutes per game. In the playoffs, McCollum tallied 24 points, five rebounds, 3.7 assists, 0.8 steals, 0.6 blocks, and 39.7 minutes per game.
The new contract will kick in after the 2020-2021 season. It also ensures that the Trail Blazers will have both McCollum and Damian Lillard until 2025.
Portland signed Lillard to a four-year supermax deal worth $191 million. The two has had some success since teaming up in 2013, when Portland got McCollum via draft.
Last season, the two teamed up to lead the Trail Blazers to the Western Conference Finals where they lost to the Golden State Warriors.
