Alvin Pasaol and the Bataan Risers displayed explicit basketball to outpower the Muntinlupa Cagers, 83-56, in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) Lakan Cup at the Caloocan Sports Complex on Tuesday.
Pasaol finally broke the silence in his MPBL career as he led Bataan with a season-high 20 points and seven boards.
The former University of the East (UE) main gun poured 14 first half points, which proved to be the turning point of the match as they never looked back in the second half.
Santi Santillan was also a force in the game with 15 points and eight boards while Chito Jaime added nine points and nine boards.
For the Cagers, Edzel Mag-isa was the only bright spot that tried to will the team with 17 points and 13 rebounds as John Ortouste had a quiet game of 10 points.
The win brought Bataan to a 3-3 win loss record while the Muntinlupa Cagers went down to 3-4.
Alvin Pasaol, who came off the bench made immediate impact for Bataan with seven points to rally a hig-scoring first quarter for the Risers, 28-16.
Bataan then capitalized on Muntinlupa's scoring drought that lasted for the first five and a half minutes of the second quarter to banner a 35-16 lead.
Mag-isa stopped the run on a lay up followed by Ortouste's bucket but Santillan responded with a floater and Pasaol's five-point swing made it 47-29 in the half.
Bataan never gave up the momentum in the second half as they went to pile up points and built a 25-point lead going to the final quarter, 68-43.
Hopeless for the last 10 minutes, Muntinlupa surrendered to a 83-56 defeat.
Pasaol's break out game is a timely boost for Bataan, who now sits as 3-3, as they prepare for a fierce battle against the still unbeaten and defending champion San Juan Knights on Saturday.
