Pasig City Sta. Lucia Realtors head coach Segundo Dela Cruz lauded the support of their home town crowd as they claim back-to-back home wins in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) Lakan Cup at the Pasig Sports Complex.
The Realtors, who had a 78-72 victory over the Rizal Golden Coolers Xentro Mall, on Monday, caught their second-straight victory in front of their rowdy fans.
"Masarap maglaro rito sa Pasig. Kasi yung support ng crowd napakarami. Binibigyan talaga nila kami ng energy everytime na naglalaro kami rito," he said.
The crowd was up on their feet in every basket by the Realtors right from the first frame. In return, both teams treated them with a see-saw battle but it was the heroics of Robbie Manalang and Richard Valchez that wowed the energetic spectators.
"Lagi kong sinasabi sa kanya if you're open take the shot," the former University of Santo Tomas (UST) head coach Dela Cruz said on Manalang's hot shooting from the outside, draining six triples.
He also lauded the performance home grown talent Richard Velchez, who finished with 11 points and nine rebounds.
"Well, hard worker yan si Richard Velchez. Hindi naman ako nagtataka na magkakaroon sya ng best player of the game, hindi lang isa yan, marami."
But Pasig, who holds a 3-2 win-loss record in the Lakan Cup, have still a lot to improve according to Dela Cruz.
